How To Make A Personalized Gift Basket

So you want to make a personalized gift basket for someone. Perhaps it is their birthday, or they have just recovered or been discharged from hospital. The number one most imperative advice that anyone can give you is that you have to take into account who it is for!. Do you have any inside jokes with the receiver of the gift basket? There is nothing more impersonal than receiving a store bought basket that has a shoddy card on the inside. You may as well just carve “Here” on a piece of wood and put it into a box. But fear not, for I will help you create a gift basket that any relative would want to receive!

Starting with the basics at decoration, it is important to make your basket look appealing as nobody wants to receive something that looks thrown together at the last minute. Simply go to your local card/gift wrapping store and buy some ribbon, some colored plastic see through wrap and lots of matching crepe paper. Use the crepe paper as the foundation for the basket, by placing multiple folds at the bottom of the basket, and simply crinkle the edges around the edge of the basket to make it look like it was there all along! You can tear up the remaining crepe paper to get a kind of streamer effect. Now take the ribbon and tie a neat bow on the handle of the basket (this step really shows affection with receivers for some reason). Now stream the colored plastic around the edge of the basket, to cover the crinkled edge of the crepe paper.

Next is the arrangement. Avoid live flowers if you intend to give the basket in a few days as it will wilt and look very terrible on the day. Depending on who it is for, you can either have an inside joke or go for a more generic box of chocolates or champagne combo (these are usually accepted with gratitude believe me!). You want to arrange them so that the biggest is at the back, and the smallest is leaning on the biggest (this makes it seem like you have given more than you actually have).

And voila! You have a fully amiable gift basket that anyone could appreciate!

Creating Personalized Gift Baskets

Sometimes you don’t need a holiday or birthday to crate a special homemade gift basket for someone. Maybe you want to show a co-worker appreciation, or you want to give something to a neighbor who watched your home while you were on vacation. Creating personalized gift baskets full of things they love is a simple way inexpensive way to show someone you care about them. From gifts for neighbors to gifts for writers, creating a gift basket will always be appreciated.

First, start with a wicker basket. They come on many shapes and sizes. If you have a budget, keep that in mind as you select your basket. The bigger it is, the more items you’ll need to fill it with. If you have a can of spray paint around your house, you can use it to give the basket some color. Next, line it with a pretty cloth napkin or a piece of material. This will keep the bottom of the basket nice and smooth looking. Use one large enough that some of the edges hang over the edge of the basket.

Now comes the fun part! Think about what that person likes to do. Do they have a hobby or interest? Is there a certain sport they like or a team they are a fan of? Do they like a specific color? These are the questions you’ll need to ask yourself before you purchase anything for the basket.

You can wrap some, or all, of the items individually if you choose before placing them into the gift basket. Try to arrange them in an interesting way and be sure that smaller items don’t get lost in the bottom. You can top it off with some cellophane or just a nice big bow on the basket handle.

There you have it! An easy gift that can meet any budget.

Create Personalized Gift Baskets For Valentine’s Day

Personalized gift baskets are a great idea for the special men in your life? Maybe you’d like to show your husband, boyfriend or father how special they are with a homemade gift basket. Here are some ideas just in time for Valentine’s Day. :)

Start with a wicker basket. You can find gift basket supplies at most craft stores and you may even have luck finding a like-new basket at a thrift shop for very little money.

Spray paint the basket red for an extra touch. Check your paint supply before you purchase a new can because you won’t need much.

Use some material, a cloth napkin or a handkerchief to line the bottom. Try to have one large enough to hang over the sides. If you’re using a solid color, try white – it will look nice with the red. You can also try to use a pattern with hearts on it. Don’t use anything to feminine though, remember it’s for a man.

Now for the fillings! You’ll want something romantic, but also items that are personal for their likes and hobbies. If they enjoy movies, buy a romantic comedy on DVD. If they like reading, buy a book of love poems. Do they work on a computer? Purchase a specially made screen saver with your picture on it, surrounded by hearts. You can get it downloaded to a CD that you can add to the basket. Think of what they like to do and how you can turn it into something romantic. A little imagination goes a long way!! :)

Next, go to your favorite bakery and pick up some Valentine Day cookies. Try to get a nice assortment. For the final empty spots, you can use candy. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding Valentine candy in single servings that you can tuck in where ever it needs to be filled. You can also pick up little Valentine trinkets like a keychain or a mug to include in the basket.

Also – this basket can be easily adjusted for a woman.

Happy Valentine’s Day!! :)
